What is your organization's mission?

NORC at the University of Chicago enables citizens, journalists, communities, businesses, and governments to better comprehend and navigate the changes in today’s dynamic world and thrive with the help of new understanding and insights.

What are some highlights of your work over the past year?

The NORC Center on Public Safety & Justice launched a new live Crime Tracker that provides real-time data from America's cities (https://livecrimetracker.norc.org/#home)

We conducted Round #3 of Feeding America's Child & Family Choice Program for Feeding America (https://www.norc.org/research/projects/feeding-americas-child-family-choice-program.html)

NORC developed the most comprehensive national surveillance system to track eye diseases and vision loss based on secondary data sources and statistical modeling. (https://www.norc.org/research/projects/vision-and-eye-health-surveillance-system.html)

With support from AARP, NORC founded the first-ever research panel designed to scientifically represent Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. (https://www.norc.org/services-solutions/amplify-aapi.html)

What sets your organization apart in the field?

From groundbreaking longitudinal work like the General Social Survey to quick-turnaround studies that use our AmeriSpeak panel, NORC pursues hundreds of projects in any given year. In the process, we develop innovative research methods and analytical tools, advance principles of scientific integrity and collaboration, and support evidence-based policymaking and program development.
